The JMX Story

In November 2002, Jim Miller and Miao Xue, former classmates at the University of South Florida graduate program in management, began sharing their aspirations about starting a business together. The conversations culminated over lunch in early 2003, where they agreed to proceed with an e-commerce firm, merging the initials of their names to create JMX.

Our first website, GardenTones.com, selling outdoor living products, went live in May 2003. MillerStore.com and OceanFare.com soon followed, offering crafts made by Amish woodworkers and nautical decor, respectively. Amish merchandise was a result of our search for unique products and Miller's Anabaptist background. Because he was familiar with the peculiarities of Amish culture and working with the Amish, Miller brought a unique skill to the irregular process of bringing Amish made products to the consumer. With the success of Amish crafts, Amish furniture and Amish quilts were added to JMX's product line with the opening of DutchCrafters.com and QuiltsByLinse.com. We regularly travel the country roads throughout Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, seeing the products being made firsthand and meeting the craftspeople who make them, in order to choose the best of the best in Amish made products.

With the continued growth of the company, both staff size and number of sites have regularly increased. JMX now manages about 25 online stores. Though an ecommerce business, we have always felt strongly that personal customer service must be a cornerstone of the company. Live salespeople and customer service staff are always available to help with any order or answer any question.

As JMX looks to the future, we will build on our strengths in e-commerce and importing, connecting buyers and sellers throughout the world with highly efficient distribution methods and personal, hands-on service.
