Teak Wood - Naturally Beautiful
Teak is a hardwood that contains natural oil, which makes it resistant to moisture and the drying effects of exposure to the elements. Teak is the perfect wood for outdoor furniture, and is increasingly popular indoors because of its natural beauty. Teak is also used for ship building (especially decks), indoor or outdoor furniture, high-class joinery, flooring, paneling, plywood and decorative veneers.
Teak is kiln dried for three to four weeks. This dries the teak to the optimum humidity and helps eliminate cracks.
Teak is generally straight grained with a medium luster and an oily feel. It has a yellow brown to dark golden brown appearance when new and grayish or white look as it ages.
Care of Teak
This teak product is untreated. If you wish to preserve or highlight the natural color of the teak, treat it with oil. The oil treatment should be repeated at regular intervals as needed.
Some people treat teak with varnish to protect its natural color. This is often done in the cabins of sailboats.
For regular cleaning use natural soap that both cleans the teak and adds a protective layer of soap. Natural soap can be used on untreated and oiled surfaces alike. A wood cleaner can also be used. Re-treat the teak with oil after using a wood cleaner.

Skagerak - Superior Design
Skagerak is a 100% Danish owned company founded in 1976 with headquarters in Hadsund. Skagerak's reputation as a premier designer and manufacturer of fine teak furniture is unsurpassed. Skagerak furniture and accessories are sold through dealers throughout Europe and recently have become available in America.
Skagerak develops, markets and sells quality products for the use in private homes - outdoor as well as indoor. Skagerak's products primarily appeal to consumers who value high quality, design and originality, when they buy durable consumer goods.
Skagerak ensures that the teak they use comes from trees between 30 and 50 years old. The wood from teak trees younger than 20 years old does not yet contain the important oil that makes teak ideal for outdoor furniture. In additional, Skagerak grows its teak in plantations so that forests are not destroyed. Skagerak teak is kiln dried for three to four weeks. This dries the wood to the optimum humidity and helps eliminate cracks.
